How hard is it to get the position you want in the military?

I've always heard that just because you want a certain job, that doesn't mean that's where the military will put you.

How likely is it that you'll be placed somewhere for a different job?

Or does it just depend on your education, experience, etc?

Also, will they put you somewhere similar to the job you want, or just wherever they happen to need more people? How hard is it to get the position you want in the military?MOS (Job description) is based on your asvab scores to be enlistee.

Having a degree qualifies you to go to officer training.

Where you are sent depends on where the unit you will be attached to will be and also where they really need you at.

Usually the first enlistment term you have to go where the military wants you to go. Your second enlistment you have a say so basically a *wish list* of the places you'd like to go just like when you joined but instead you have more priority cause you completed already 1 enlistment of service. It all falls back on where you are needed and where your MOS is located. Hope that helped.

Make sure you make your recruiter be specific on your job choice and DO NOT leave it open status; unless you don't care. But get everything down on paper. EVERYTHING! from your recruiter. Cause Recruiters will BS you and give you promises. But if you have it all down on paper; he has to keep his word. How hard is it to get the position you want in the military?it just depend on how many slots they have open for the job you want and what rank you are. you have a better chance of getting the job you want verses being stationed where you want. it also depends on what branch of military you choose. i suggest the airforce. How hard is it to get the position you want in the military?Education, experience, ASVAB score (high one) will help you get what you want or at least a chance at it.
