What are the different types of military lawyers? What is the difference between a JAG and the rest of them?

What kinds of law can you practice in the military? What are the different types of military lawyers? What is the difference between a JAG and the rest of them? All U.S. military officers serving as lawyers are part of the Judge Advocate General's Corps. There are Trial Service Offices and Legal Service Offices. Trial Service is criminal law only. Legal Service is wills, powers of attorney, and limited civil matters relating to deployment. The legal service folks often prepare taxes for military members at no charge, so long as the preparation isn't terribly complicated. What they do NOT do is, anything related to divorce, child custody, property disputes, etc. They'll refer you "downtown" for those. Some attorneys also provide information screening for FOIA (Freedom of Information Act) releases, and legal review for people being administratively separated from the service. What are the different types of military lawyers?
