How do civilians percieve the military and war?

I am in the U.S. Army, I've been deployed to Iraq before. I'm curious what people think of the military now as opposed to lets say soldiers returning from the Vietnam war. Also how do civilians look at the Iraq and Afghanistan wars? How do civilians percieve the military and war?I think that many civilians now adays don't agree with the wars, but they are more positive and willing to support the troops. Troops get more support now then the troops from the vietnam war and it is weird because during that period some troops didn't have a choice they just got drafted and today is an all volunteer army, so that means people are choosing this career field. You would think that troops from the vietnam era would have gotten more support because they were forced into it.How do civilians percieve the military and war?Thank You for Your Service!

I went in the Army under Carter and got out under Reagan.

You had some Radical Anus's that truly were against the people in our military. Did thing like call them "Baby Killers" and Spit on them when they'd pass. You still have some of that I suppose as there still are the Clueless.

You folks are over There Do-in! Don't let Anyone, take that away from you. You people are doing a great job of taken care of Each Other! That's the most important thing you can do! Hopefully all of you will be coming home Sooner then Later! Hopefully we will get those responsible for 911.

Pay Attention, but don't loose your sense of Humor. Remember, Paying Attention doesn't cost you anything.

Until you Don't!

Positive Vibes To You and Yours!

I'm doing my part and Voting! How do civilians percieve the military and war?First of all, THANK YOU for your service in the army, and defending our freedoms from all who threaten us.

Not everyone honors our warriors as much as some, they treat it as not a big deal sometimes, it really depends on the person.

Theres a lot of nutjobs around here. Some even want our soldiers to die, like a few radical church groups ("Thank God for dead soldiers") Some people are against the war because of how tightly the liberal media controls so many people, and others don't like the war because they dislike the United States, even though they live here.....

As a civilian myself, I'm glad we're over there getting rid of the people who would kill all of us if they were given the chance.
