1. Unlock
2. Purchase
3. Turn on.
I can't give you specific instructions for DS but generally people just forget to turn them on after they are purchased. Check you menu under 'extras.'

Lego Harry Potter years 1-4 on DSI help!?
I am having some issues understanding the red bricks. I recently obtained the invincibility brick so i assumed that would make me untouchable in the game. but aapparently not. so what exactly does it do? I tried looking up information online but I dont see many things on the game. perhaps because it is a new game? i dont know. just someone explain it to me.Lego Harry Potter years 1-4 on DSI help!?
