The author, Andy McNab has written adult books however this particular novel isn't for those type of readers and is more of a teen read. The first book in this series is called Boy Soldier and is about a boy who finds his lost Grandad and is then hunted down by the MI6, on the run with his best friend and his grandad, his best friend is a girl.|||The Uglies tetralogy by Scott Westerfeld.|||YOU CAN read ouran high school and Times travelers wife :) hope that helps|||The Uglies series and the Artemis Fowl series.|||Have you ever heard of Tamora Pierce? Her books are fantasy/romance featuring female heros. I'd suggest starting with the Song of the Lioness Quartet to introduce you to the world but they're all really good!
The Song of the Lioness Quartet
"From now on I''m Alan of Trebond, the younger twin. I''ll be a knight."
And so young Alanna of Trebond begins the journey to knighthood. Though a girl, Alanna has always craved the adventure and daring allowed only for boys; her twin brother, Thom, yearns to learn the art of magic. So one day they decide to switch places: Disguised as a girl, Thom heads for the convent to learn magic; Alanna, pretending to be a boy, is on her way to the castle of King Roald to begin her training as a page.
But the road to knighthood is not an easy one. As Alanna masters the skills necessary for battle, she must also learn to control her heart and to discern her enemies from her allies.
Filled with swords and sorcery, adventure and intrigue, good and evil, Alanna''s first adventure begins -- one that will leard to the fulfillment of her dreams and the magical destiny that will make her a legend in her land.
Alanna''s journey continues...
Immortals Quartet
Thirteen-year-old Daine has always had a knack with animals, but it''s not until she''s forced to leave home that she realizes it''s more than a knack -- it''s magic. With this wild magic, not only can Daine speak to animals, but also she can make them obey her. Daine takes a job handling horses for the Queen''s Riders, where she meets the master mage Numair and becomes his student.
Under Numair''s guidance, Daine explores the scope of her magic. But she begins to sense other beings too: immortals. These bloodthirsty monsters have been imprisoned in the Divine Realms for the past four hundred years, but now someone has broken the barrier. It''s up to Daine and her friends to defend their world from an immortal attack
Protector of the Small Quartet
Kel is only 10 years old, but as the daughter of an ambassador, she has been trained in combat and taught self-discipline and emotional control. She will need all these skills and much more to overcome the prejudices of the court -- she is only accepted on a year's probation, the first injustice, and most of her fellow trainees and many of her instructors disapprove of any girl training to become a page, let alone a squire or knight. But Kel does have some allies -- her intelligence, kindness and determination endear her to many of the palace servants, some instructors and a few enlightened classmates. Kel also wins the favour of some animal friends -- a flock of sympathetic sparrows adopts her and the meanest gelding in the student stable allows her to ride him. Kel also has a mysterious benefactor who rewards her tenacity with gifts fit for a true knight.
The dirty tricks of her fellow pages do not deter Kel, and she fights several enemies hand-to-hand when she takes it upon herself to end the hazing of first-year students by older pages. Kel is strong and determined and most importantly, she follows the code: she does not whine or tattle on the boys who cause trouble in an effort to get rid of her. She is skilled, but far from perfect -- it is her discipline and hard work that allow her to master the many grueling tasks set for the pages. She proves herself and wins over many, but not all, of her detractors. This is excellent adventure writing -- there is tilting, arms practice and even a battle against fearsome Immortal creatures -- and readers will rejoice in Kel's triumphs, commiserate over her troubles and cheer her on to the year's end. Ages 10 and up.|||I read Melissa Marr's Wicked Lovely series. It's about the fey. It's pretty magic-y. It has romance, action... fiction!
There are four books in the series so far: Wicked Lovely, Ink Exchange, Fragile Eternity, Radiant Shadows. Each book switches POV but it isn't hard to follow. Each one revolves around different people.
Basically, it's about a girl who's grown up with the Sight to see fairies but her grandmother has told he not to look at them, or do anything to lt them know she sees them. One of them starts following her wearing a Glamour but she knows that he's really... not human. Ah? What's going to happen?!
It is a YA series. It's nothing bad. Yep, there's romance but it's nothing bad.
Each book is 300-400 pages. There are more coming out. There's also a manga series. :j
Jesus, I'm sorry his is so long. Lol.
I don't know if this helped much with the question. I hope it did though. Meow.
